Band & Choir Sign Up for Pfeiffer

Attention all 5th grade parents and students…
In a normal school year we would be enrolling 5th grade students in next year’s band and choir programs for Pfeiffer…but as you know this year has been anything but normal. However, we are still very excited to have you join the band, choir, or both ensembles for the 2020-2021 school year.  Band & Choir are open to all 5th graders moving into 6th grade next year. You do not need to have any prior musical experience to join these groups. This is a great opportunity to explore playing a musical instrument and singing in a full choir. Students are able to do Band only, Choir only, or participate in both ensembles. Please watch these informational videos about each group…

As you can see, these are two very exciting groups to be in at Pfeiffer. If you would like to be signed up for these classes, please follow the Google Forms link and submit it by FRIDAY, MAY 8th, 2020. This just informs us of your interest…schedule changes are always possible in the fall. BAND/CHOIR ENROLLMENT GOOGLE FORM:  On behalf of Ms. Morris (choir director) and Mr. Sterling, we hope you will consider joining band and/or choir in the fall.  Stay safe and healthy and have a great remainder of the school year.

Spring Events Announcement and Information

Dear Perry High School Families and Guardians,
The recent guidance provided by Governor DeWine in conjunction with the Ohio Department of Education (Graduation Ceremony Statement) regarding commencement and other year-end activities has required us to make some difficult decisions regarding Spring events.  As the district adheres to the recommendations of the Governor and the Ohio Department of Education, we share in the disappointment with everyone that these activities will be cancelled or adjusted. Moving through these challenging times, our top priority has always been to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of our students, staff, and community. We have received the input of the school district, staff and stakeholders in making these decisions based upon the Governor’s and the Ohio Department of Education’s guidance.

As a result of this input, the remainder of our Spring events will either be cancelled or held remotely in the following ways:
Prom will be cancelled with no rescheduling of the event
Commencement will be designed as a Virtual Commencement to be held on the original date/time of Sunday, May 24th @ 2:00 PM.  Specific details will be provided by Perry HS administration regarding cap/gown distribution, receiving of diplomas and other activities to recognize and celebrate the Class of 2020 in the coming days.
Scholarship Night will be designed in a remote format on the original date/time of Tuesday, May 19th @ 7:00 PM.  Specific details for those receiving this recognition will be sent by the Perry HS Counseling Department in the coming days.
Award Ceremonies and Other Events will be designed in a remote format with specific details communicated by the advisor of each organization.
National Honor Society & National Career Technical Honor Society Induction will be held in a remote format on Thursday, May 7th @ 7:00 PM.  Specific details will be sent to inductees and families by the advisor of NHS in the coming days.

We empathize with everyone that we will not be able to celebrate with our students in-person and bring our families or community together for these monumental events yet feel as though this is the best way, in accordance with all the guidelines provided, to acknowledge the Class of 2020 and all our students.  We appreciate everyone’s understanding and patience with all of these difficult decisions.  As new information becomes available, we will continue to provide regular updates on these events as details
are planned out.  Click here for the PDF version.  Puede hacer clic aquí para ver la versión en español.

Remote Learning Grading Guidelines

Dear Parents and Guardians,
Perry Local has established the following grading guidelines for the fourth grading period.  With the Governor’s decision to continue educating remotely for the remainder of the year, the District thought it was important to clearly outline the academic expectations for the final grading period.  Understanding the difficulties of truly educating and evaluating  a student remotely, these guidelines were created to encourage our students to remain engaged in their learning but at the same time not be punitive.  Thank you for your continued support as we navigate through this season much longer than most of us hoped.  We know however the safety and wellbeing of our students will always be the overarching theme of what drives Perry Local.  Puede hacer clic aquí para ver la versión en español.

Mobile Response Information

There is a team of local, licensed counselors ready to come to you within minutes when you need help with any urgent mental health or substance use need! This includes, but is not limited to, things like: Family argument / Parental struggles / Behavior concerns in yourself or others / Feelings of isolation / Difficulty coping with stress / Substance use worries.  This service is available 24/7/365 through Coleman Crisis Services, and is still operating (safely) during the COVID-19 pandemic.  Call 330-452-6000 to reach the Mobile Response team, and read more about them – including the reasons people call – in this PDF, which you may have seen in The Repository last weekend.

Edison 8th Grade DC Trip Cancellation

We are sorry to report that we have cancelled the 8th Grade Trip to Washington DC that was scheduled for May 20-22nd.  The safety and well being of our students is our number one priority.  Given the current conditions with COVID-19, we feel that this is in the best interest of our students, staff and parent chaperones.  Please note that original paperwork stated that the $100.00 deposit was non-refundable. However, Traveling Classrooms will do their best to get back any money they can from vendors and will refund that money to parents. We do not know how much that will be at this time or when those refunds will be sent.  Furthermore, if you paid the $320.00 balance, that full amount will be refunded to you.  If you have any questions, feel free to email Mrs. Kittelberger.

Perry Local Schools Update 3-30-2020
